On the Edge Tour

Bringing Dance to Communities Across Manitoba

Each spring, dancers from the Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program take RWB on the road, travelling across Manitoba to perform in schools, community centres and theatres.

For many audiences, it’s a first experience with ballet and contemporary dance, creating opportunities to discover live performance close to home.

Not everyone has the opportunity to experience live dance. The On the Edge Tour brings performances directly to communities across Manitoba, reaching students and audiences who might not otherwise have the chance to see RWB perform.

Wherever we go, we create a stage, and an opportunity to connect through dance.

A Manitoba Tradition

Touring has been part of RWB’s story for generations. The On the Edge Tour carries that spirit across Manitoba, bringing dancers and communities together in places large and small.

Each stop is different, but the idea is simple: bring dance to where people are, create opportunities to experience something new, and build connections that extend beyond the stage.

A Professional Experience for Emerging Artists

The tour is also an important part of the Aspirant Program experience. Dancers gain firsthand experience performing in different spaces, adapting to new audiences and working together to bring each performance to life. From setting up community spaces to stepping on stage, they experience what it takes to take a performance on the road, building confidence, independence and experience along the way.
