Community Dance

Community Dance is a free community engagement program that brings people together through movement, creativity, and self-expression. Designed to remove barriers to participation, the program creates opportunities for children, youth, adults, and community groups to experience dance in welcoming and inclusive environments.

Dance for Everyone

Everyone should have the opportunity to experience dance. Since 2015, RWB’s Community Dance programs have reached more than 7,500 participants across Manitoba, creating opportunities to move, create and connect.

Dance offers much more than physical activity. It can build confidence and self-expression, encourage creativity and collaboration, support physical well-being, and bring people together through shared experiences.

Whether someone is stepping into a dance class for the first time or discovering a new way to express themselves, Community Dance creates space for everyone to take part.

Community Dance for Kids and Adults

Community Dance Kids gives children and youth the chance to discover dance in a welcoming environment. Through free classes, workshops, educational resources and community programming, young people can explore movement, develop new skills and experience what it’s like to dance together.

For some participants, that first experience can lead further. Scholarships and continued learning opportunities help young dancers who want to keep exploring and developing their practice. Community Dance also creates opportunities for people who may experience barriers to participating in traditional dance programs.

Through ExplorAbility, RWB works with disability and social service organizations to offer adapted dance programming for adults with disabilities. Classes are shaped around participants, creating space to move, create and experience dance in ways that work for them.
