The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School is one of Canada’s leading professional dance training institutions, helping talented young artists develop the skills, artistry, and confidence needed to pursue a career in dance.
We invite aspiring dancers to audition for our Professional Division programs:
- Ballet Academic Program
- Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program
- Teacher Training Program
Whether you join us in person, virtually, or through a video submission, we’re looking for more than technical ability. We seek dancers with potential, dedication, curiosity, and a passion for learning.
Audition Process
The first step in applying for the RWB Professional Division is to choose the audition option that works best for you.
In-Person Auditions
Attend an audition class led by members of the RWB School artistic faculty. In-person auditions provide an opportunity to experience our teaching style firsthand while allowing our faculty to assess your technique, artistry, musicality, and potential.
Virtual Auditions
Unable to attend in person? Join us from anywhere in the world through a live virtual audition led by our artistic faculty.
Video Auditions
Submit a video audition at any time before June 1, 2027. This flexible option allows dancers to audition on their own schedule from anywhere in the world.
Summer Session
For students who make it to the second round of auditions for the Ballet Academic Program, the RWB School Summer Session is an important part of the admissions process.
This immersive training experience gives dancers the opportunity to experience our faculty, curriculum, and community firsthand while allowing our artistic team to assess each student’s readiness for full-time training.

Our goal is to identify students who will thrive within the RWB School environment and benefit from our training.
WHAT TO WEAR
Students should wear:
- Leotard and tights (or close-fitting dance attire)
- Soft ballet slippers or socks
- Hair secured away from the face
Pointe shoes are not required.
Audition fees
- In-person audition: $55 CAD
- Virtual audition: $55 CAD
- Video audition: $65 CAD
Additional fees may apply for optional master classes.
