Second Soloist

Originally from Kingston, New Brunswick, Liam Caines danced in Saint John at Port City Dance Academy before starting his training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division in 2003. Caines was invited to join the RWB Company in 2007, was promoted to Corps de Ballet in 2009, and to Second Soloist in 2017.

Repertoire highlights includes Drosselmeyer (Nutcracker), Hilarion (Giselle), and Clergyman (Mark Godden’s Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation). In 2014, Caines was hand picked by internationally acknowledged choreographer James Kudelka to perform the role of Lead Man in his ballet The Four Seasons. Recently, Caines Performed the featured role of the Horse in the world premier of James Kudelka’s Vespers, where he partnered iconic Canadian ballerina Evelyn Hart.

Along with the RWB Company, he performed Itzik Galili’s Hikarizatto and Mark Godden’s As Above, So Below before an international audience at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games Cultural Olympiad. He has also had the pleasure to perform with Q Dance, Ballet BC, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and the Manitoba Opera.
