About

Our Training Program

The Teacher Training Program (TTP) is a full-time, two or three-year post-secondary program that provides aspiring dance teachers with the skills and knowledge required for a career in dance education in both recreational and professional environments, in Canada or internationally.

Within the program student teachers receive ballet, pointe, character and modern dance instruction from the Professional Division artistic faculty and are prepared for examinations in the Cecchetti Method. The Program provides Cecchetti syllabus classes and a specially designed curriculum with courses in creative movement, pre-ballet, pedagogy (ballet, jazz and modern dance), Pilates, choreography, dance history and music, as well as nutrition, performance enhancement and anatomy classes.

The Program boasts a 100% employment success rate and the University of Winnipeg recognizes TTP courses and awards up to 18 credit hours towards a B.A., B.Ed., and Kinesiology and Applied Health degree to graduates of the Program.
