More Information
Since its inception in 2015, the RWB School’s Community Dance program has achieved the following milestones:
- Provided free, multi-week Community Dance programming and workshops annually to children and youth in underserved schools and communities across Winnipeg.
- Delivered free virtual Community Dance workshops across Manitoba.
- Contributed to the development of Community Dance curriculum and program content.
- Secured local and regional funding to support Community Dance activities.
- Awarded pathway scholarships to children and youth with a passion or talent for dance, enabling their continued education and training.
The RWB School is particularly focused on Community Dance Kids, a branch of the program designed to promote artistic engagement, build self-confidence, and enhance physical literacy among children and youth. This includes free online resources such as downloadable lesson plans, video content, and music. Additionally, through the ExplorAbility program, we offer a modified version of the Community Dance choreography for adults with disabilities, in collaboration with disability and social services organizations.
Prominent former RWB artistic faculty and School graduates, including Eugene Baffoe, Philippe-Alexandre Jacques, and Jera Wolfe, have served as choreographers for Sharing Dance. This year, RWB artistic faculty members Ella Rumak and Emily Bergen have taken on choreography roles and are excited to share their work with community participants.
