Campus & Facility

The RWB is located in historic downtown Winnipeg and includes 11 state-of-the-art studios.

The student living centre is directly attached to the studios and offers a safe, supportive environment for young artists as they pursue their goals in dance.

Campus

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School is nestled within Winnipeg’s lively downtown Sports and Entertainment District, which lies on Treaty No. 1 Territory.

The campus is anchored by the RWB building, a state-of-the-art facility showcasing 11 expansive studios and a 220-seat performance space, all designed for the growth and development of our dance students.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet Studios are home to both the RWB Company and the RWB School. The facility also offers a physiotherapy clinic, 10 change rooms equipped with showers, dressing rooms and a student lounge. Students also have the opportunity to watch the RWB Company rehearse from the third-floor observatory, further enhancing their educational experience.

Student Living Centre

The RWB Student Living Centre offers a safe and supportive environment for aspiring young artists, blending the independence of boarding life with the structure of healthy routines.

Designed to house up to 100 students, the centre is directly connected to the RWB studios, providing easy access. The contemporary five-story building not only facilitates professional dance training through its facilities and modern classrooms, but also emphasizes community with its recreational areas, outdoor greenspace and enhanced food service. The facility is also equipped with 24-hour supervision and extensive security measures to ensure the well-being of our students and staff.

Our Team

The Student Boarding team is made up of professionals from diverse fields such as education, sport and recreation, social work and psychology.

All team members are certified in First Aid and CPR, and have undergone thorough background checks. The team ensures the students’ safety, well-being and overall development with a strong emphasis on maintaining open communication between parents, artistic faculty and student boarding staff. It includes all aspects of student life from health and wellness, daily meals and snacks, support and counseling as well as social activities.  The student boarding team is dedicated to nurturing all aspects of the students’ lives which is critical to their success on and off the stage.

Medical Support Team

The Medical Support Team at the RWB School offers in-house healthcare services and promotes student health and well-being. The team also has the responsibility of consulting with or referring students to other healthcare professionals if required.

Our Culture & Commitments

The RWB School is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where every student’s individual talents are recognized and celebrated. Through our Healthy Dancer and Open Communication Policies we strive for collaboration among the various adults involved in the students’ lives, including families, instructors and medical professionals, while still respecting privacy.

Child safety is of the utmost importance at RWB School, emphasized by our Child Protection Manual, developed with input from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and leading child psychologists. Our commitment to safety is an ongoing process with continuous reviews and updates to our policies and procedures in an effort to ensure a secure environment for all students.
