Bio
Winnipeg-born Katie Robinson discovered her love for dance at the age of four, beginning her training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Recreational Division before advancing through the Intensive Training Program and Dance Ensemble Program. With a strong foundation in ballet, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, modern, and lyrical dance, she has cultivated both technical excellence and artistic versatility throughout her journey.
Ms. Robinson’s passion for teaching was nurtured during her five years as a teaching assistant at RWB, where she developed her skills under the mentorship of Ms. Katrin Benedictson and Ms. Nicole Kepp. She further expanded her knowledge through the Teacher Training Program’s Creative Movement course, allowing her to guide and inspire young dancers with both skill and enthusiasm.
Recognized for her dedication and talent, Ms. Robinson received the Jean McKenzie Scholarship (2022) and the Teaching Assistant Award of Achievement (2023). She holds cherished memories of performing at Ballet in the Park and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, where she experienced firsthand the power of dance to engage and uplift communities.
For Ms. Robinson, one of the most rewarding aspects of her training has been working closely with teachers on choreography and forming lifelong friendships with her fellow dancers. Now, as an Instructor at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, she is committed to fostering that same sense of artistry, camaraderie, and joy in her students, ensuring they, too, find inspiration through movement.
