Bio

Tymin Keown joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company as an Apprentice in 2020 after spending two seasons with Ballet Victoria. He was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2021.

Notable roles for Tymin include the 4 Cavaliers in Sleeping Beauty, Franz in Coppélia and the Snow Prince in Nutcracker.

Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Tymin began his dance training at the age of 16 at Stages Performing Arts School before getting accepted into the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division in 2015. During his training, Tymin received the Esso Kid of Excellence Award and the Arnold Spohr Scholarship.

Tymin has only ever done karaoke once, at a night club in Victoria where he gave an impressive rendition of Garth Brooks’ “Low Places”. When he’s not dancing, he loves to read. In 2019, he completed a reading challenge where he completed one book every month of the year. Fun fact: Tymin collects socks with cartoon pictures or funny sayings!

Tymin would love to see the world by going on international tours with the RWB and in the future is hoping to dance principal roles such as Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty or Prince Albrecht in Giselle.
