Bio

Myles Mackesy joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company in 2023 as an Apprentice, after training in the RWB School’s Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program.

As an Aspirant, Myles has performed notable roles including the Fairy Doll pas de trois in RWB School’s 2023 On the Edge, the Paquita pas de trois in RWB’s 2022 Ballet in the Park and, as a student in the Professional Division they performed the role of Espada in Don Quixote. They have also choreographed works for RWB School’s First Steps, Concert Hour Ballet, and On the Edge.

Born in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Myles began dancing at the age of five. They attended Canada’s National Ballet School before moving to Winnipeg to train in the RWB School Profesional Division in Level 5, and then the Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program. As a student in the RWB School Professional Division, Myles received the prestigious Prince Edward Award in 2020.

Myles hopes to one day dance the roles of Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet, in The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude by William Forysthe, and in Cacti by Alexander Ekman.
