Bio
Marco Lo Presti joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company in 2023 as a Second Soloist, after spending two years in the Tanzcompany Innsbruck in Austria.
Notable performances for Marco have included the Prince in Amedeo Amodio’s Nutcracker, Federico Garcia Lorca in Enrique Gasa Valga’s Lorca and the See Man in Mauro Bigonzetti’s Mediterranea.
Originally from Rome, Italy, Marco began his dance training at five-years-old. At a small private dance school in Rome. He studied at Rome’s National Academy of Dance until the age of 18 under the tutelage of Dora Depanfilis. Marco made his professional dance debut in the Daniele Cipriani Entertainment company at the age of 19 when he immediately began performing in soloist roles. Marco was awarded first prize in Frascati Dance Open competition, and the first prize in Tomorrow’s Etoile in Rome. He has danced in the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli (2017), and the Teatro Massimo di Palermo (2019-2021). He has had the roles of Cyrano, in Filip Veverka’s Cyrano de Bergerac, Tom Buchanan in Gatsby, Charles Bovary in Madame Bovary, and the Sun in Enrique Gasa Valaga’s Mareas, created especially for him.
Marco enjoys performing repertoire ballets such as Don Quixote, Giselle, and Spartacus, and he loves character roles. He also appreciates neoclassical ballets as they give him the opportunity to move outside the classical rules and discover interesting ways of using his body. Marco’s dream roles to perform are Basilio in Don Quixote, Albrecht in Giselle and Spartacus in Spartacus. His favourite dancer is Mikhail Baryshnikov, and his favourite choreographer is Jiri Kylian.
When he’s not dancing, Marco enjoys playing guitar and composing music.
