Bio
Jenna Burns joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company as an Apprentice in 2019. She was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2020.
Jenna made her professional debut as Toto in The Wizard of Oz at RWB’s Ballet in the Park in 2019. As a student in the RWB School Professional Division’s Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program from 2017-19, she danced with the RWB Company in Balanchine’s Serenade, Lila York’s The Handmaid’s Tale: Based on the Novel by Margaret Atwood, Nutcracker, Rudi van Dantzig’s Romeo & Juliet, and the Canadian premiere of Septime Webre’s The Wizard of Oz. One of her favourite roles to watch is the Mouse King in Nutcracker.
Born in Rochester, New York, Jenna began training at the age of seven at the Draper Center for dance education, with Sarah Rothrock-Rickel and Jamey Leverett. She moved to Winnipeg to train in the RWB School Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program in 2017.
When Jenna isn’t dancing, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Jovi. Her favourite food is hummus and she loves watching scary movies.
Jenna would love to revisit dancing in Romeo & Juliet in the future. She can’t wait to see RWB go on tour once again as that’s when she feels the dancers reach the most people.
