Suzanne André has been sharing her talents with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School since joining the Artistic Faculty in 1998, where she assumed the role of Professional Division Principal in 2015. Passionate about the training and well-being of RWB students, Ms. André has supported the development of dancers and teachers in the Professional and Recreational Divisions, and the Teacher Training Program, instructing in disciplines of ballet, pointe, conditioning, creative movement and dance history.

In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Andre oversees student safety, well-being, and personal development. She provides direction to the Head Residence Advisor and the Student Care Counsellors and is the primary liaison with the RWB Medical Support Team and academic partners.

Ms. André studied ballet under former RWB Company Principal dancer Lynette Fry Abra in Calgary, at the National Ballet School in Toronto, and for five years with the RWB School Professional Division. In 1999, Ms. André graduated with distinction from the RWB Teacher Training Program and holds her Associate Diploma with the Cecchetti Canada.

Ms. André has rehearsed students for RWB Company performances including Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. A lifelong lover of the artform, her favourite ballets are Giselle and Romeo & Juliet.

As part of her continuing education, Ms. André has been fortunate to visit and observe classes at the National Ballet of Cuba and Royal Ballet School in London, England.
