Rachel Cooper is a teacher, choreographer and dancer. She is a graduate of the Senior Professional Program at the School of Contemporary Dancers and holds a Bachelor of Arts, Honours in Theatre and Drama/Dance as a well as a Bachelor of Education both from the University of Winnipeg where she was awarded the University’s Gold medal for her studies. Rachel began her professional career in Toronto, performing with TILT Sound and Motion. She has a strong foundation in many dance disciplines including jazz, modern, ballet, tap and hip hop and has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of choreographers. Rachel is currently on staff with the Junior Professional Program at the School of Contemporary Dancers and directs the Maples Collegiate Dance Department. Her choreography has appeared on local, national and international stages, garnering her numerous awards and accolades. Locally her choreography has been awarded Adjudicator’s Choice at the Manitoba Dance Festival in the categories of jazz, lyrical jazz, modern and hip hop. Ms Cooper continues to attend professional development workshops and seminars to further her growth as a dancer and dance educator.
