Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Alanna McAdie trained at the Edmonton School of Ballet before beginning her professional training with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division. After graduating in 2009, she joined RWB’s Aspirant Program before becoming a company Apprentice in 2011. McAdie was promoted to Second Soloist in 2015.
Since joining the RWB Company, McAdie has danced the roles of Giselle (Giselle), Clara (Nutcracker), Niska (Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation), Wendy (Peter Pan), Helena (The Faerie Queen - A Ballet Based On A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Bluebird and Canary Fairy (The Sleeping Beauty), and performed in Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin, Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story, Svengali, Mauricio Wainrot’s Carmina Burana, Jorden Morris’ The Doorway: Scenes from Leonard Cohen, The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude and Peter Quanz’s In Tandem, Luminous and Untitled. In 2010, she attended the Banff summer arts festival and danced in Balanchine’s Who Cares.
