Romeo & Juliet

March 12-16, 2008

Choreography : RUDI VAN DANTZIG
Music : SERGE PROKOFIEV

Set & Costume Design : TOER VAN SCHAYK
Original Lighting Design : NICHOLAS CERNOVITCH
Length: 2 hours, 35 minutes

The most beautiful ballet in the RWB's repertoire, Romeo & Juliet is everything that ballet should be. Young love, sword-fights, gorgeous music, and ultimately, tragedy and redemption. Shakespeare's timeless romance is beautifully adapted in this dramatic tour-de-force.

The splendour of sixteenth-century Verona is recreated by the magnificent sets and costumes of Toer van Schayk in this full-length ballet that demands the most of a dancer's personal capacity to create a role.

“A ballet with all the catalytic power of a multimillion dollar megamusical."
– Winnipeg Free Press, 2004

“It would be difficult to imagine a more sensuous, more compelling dance version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet."
– The Ottawa Citizen, 2002
