WINNIPEG—June 28, 2017. Following the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) School Professional Division’s 16-city International Audition Tour, 10 talented dancers have received the coveted Investors Group National Scholarships to continue their dance training with the RWB School Professional Division’s Summer Session from July 2-29. These 10 will join over 200 dancers from across the world for their month-long training.

“It is always exciting for us to see emerging talent across the country,” shares Arlene Minkhorst, RWB School Director. “The Investors Group National Scholarships are awarded to the most talented auditionees to acknowledge their potential and provide opportunities to learn with some of the country’s top dance educators.”

A proud supporter of the RWB, Investors Group provides a $2,000 scholarship to one aspiring dancer in every province across Canada. The scholarships enable recipients to attend the second phase of the audition process, four weeks of training at the RWB School, and a chance to earn a place in the full-time Professional Division program in Winnipeg.

“This scholarship provides aspiring dancers from across Canada the opportunity to further their dream by training with some of the country’s most gifted instructors,” says Trevor Krahn, Investors Group Director of Community Investment. “Investors Group is proud to support the world-renowned Royal Winnipeg Ballet in ways that promote individual achievement for young people.”

In RWB’s Professional Division Summer Session, students complete intensive work in ballet and pointe technique and, depending on their level, pas de deux and variations. In addition to classical training, students receive a comprehensive education in character dance and modern dance. The curriculum is augmented by classes in historical dance, conditioning, music, repertoire, Spanish dance, improvisation, choreography, visual art, dance history, creative movement, nutrition, performance enhancement, and strength-training for male students.

The RWB School Professional Division congratulates the 2017 Investors Group National Scholarship recipients and graciously thanks Investors Group for their ongoing support.
