DON LEITCH ELECTED BOARD CHAIR OF THE RWB

WINNIPEG—June 13, 2017. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) announced today that Don Leitch has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors. He takes over from Lewis Rosenberg, who has stepped down from the Chair role due to health reasons. Rosenberg will continue to serve as a member of the Board of Directors.

Don Leitch is the President & CEO of the Business Council of Manitoba, with extensive executive experience in both the public and private sectors. He served as the Clerk of the Executive Council and Deputy Minister to the Premier in Manitoba for over eleven years. That position is the most senior civil servant. Leitch also served as Deputy Minister for economic development, trade and investment, and tourism in British Columbia. He also brings a wealth of board experience having served on numerous boards and committees provincially and nationally, including the boards of the Forks-North Portage Development Corporation and the International Institute for Sustainable Development. For several years Leitch has been on the International Advisory Committee of the RWB.
In accepting his new role, Leitch spoke of the importance of the RWB to the community.

“The RWB has long been one of the leading cultural organizations in our city and our province. The RWB also has an international reputation that extends across the globe and serves as a source of pride for all of us. I am honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the stewardship of this organization and look forward to working alongside my fellow board members, André Lewis and the staff and artists,” states Leitch. “While the challenges facing all arts organizations are considerable, our community’s commitment is deep and there is a great optimism as we look to the future. Our task is to ensure the RWB and all our arts and culture organizations continue to be amazing cultural and economic assets, contributing to the quality of life and making our province the great place it is.“
