The vampire who will ECLIPSE all others!
Featuring The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra
We are thrilled to open the season with the spine-chilling monster hit, Dracula. In the midst of the current mania for vampires and the supernatural, this is your chance to see the vampire who started it all!
Created for the RWB by acclaimed choreographer Mark Godden, Dracula was premiered in Winnipeg in October 1998. Godden’s atmospheric, seductive treatment of Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic novel was a smash hit, selling out eight consecutive performances at the Centennial Concert Hall, then delighting audiences all across Canada.
Critics across North America love this work. Robert Enright, in a review for CBC Radio in 1998, gushed, “I was utterly seduced… I’ve been bitten.” Toronto dance critic Michael Crabb called Dracula “one of the most inventive, entertaining and intelligent” full-length ballets he had seen (Dance International, 1998/99). Dracula has become one of RWB’s signature repertoire works for which the Company is widely known.
