Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Alanna McAdie trained at the Edmonton School of Ballet before beginning her professional training with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division. After graduating in 2009, she joined RWB’s Aspirant Program before becoming a company Apprentice in 2011. McAdie was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2012.
Since joining the RWB Company, McAdie has danced the role of Bluebird and Canary Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, and performed in Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin, Svengali, Giselle, Mauricio Wainrot’s Carmina Burana and Jorden Morris’ The Doorway: Scenes from Leonard Cohen. Recent highlights include The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude and Peter Quanz’s In Tandem, Luminous and Untitled.
While training at the RWB School, McAdie was awarded the Juanita Y. Alexander Award for Artistic Excellence. In 2010, she attended the Banff summer arts festival and danced in Balanchine’s Who Cares.
